Amy Pierson
add Amy Pierson as a friendHey, I'm Amy and I'm obsessed with bread. It's not like it sounds - I'm a chef. Anyway, I own a bakery here in LA, and I'm married and everything, but I feel most like myself when I'm at book club. OR when I nail a really good strawberry tart. It's heaven, really. I'm in my thirties. No kids yet, but hopefully soon (fingers crossed). Oh, and if I could actually cook with Julia Child, I would die a happy woman.

Mmm.. Holiday baking!
Oh how I love the holiday season! I am still eating the leftovers from
Thanksgiving, we had an excellent dinner this year. I made the Turkey
and usual staples, but also tried out a few new recipes. Check out my
Facebook profile for the tasty Cranberry Chutney I made, the recipe
comes from my friend Angela Haxton. I am usually not one for cranberry
sauce but this was so good I had seconds.
Thanks, Angela! This is the first time I made Cranberry Chutney and it
was out of this world!
The bakery has been quite busy, I guess even with the economic
situation people still can't refuse a warm batch of cookies! I have
been searching the web for some new Christmas recipes and came across
a great blog titled Rock Recipes (http://rockrecipes.blogspot.com) The
ginger bread houses featured on Rock Recipes are amazing, I am
definitely going to try it out. Maybe I can get the book club girls to
help out as one of our adventures!
Speaking of book club adventures, I had so much fun pole dancing the
other day! I think I am going to take it up, like maybe take classes
once a week or so just for fun. It is such a good workout and totally
boosts the confidence.
Well, off to the bakery as usual. I am still looking for some new
holiday recipes, let me know if you have any suggestions!

Wow, I don’t even know what day it is I’ve been so busy lately. From baking my pear tart with Ramon Perez to making special strawberry shortcake for my coworker’s birthday, I’ve just been non-stop. Not to mention trying to keep up with Gabe’s schedule and making great dinners, like my signature pasta with fresh veggies, for the two of us.
Speaking of Gabe, our situation is becoming increasingly frustrating. I just feel like I’m in an infinite holding pattern. We’ve tried so many different tactics that I’m starting to loose faith in the science, or chemistry, angle of this problem. It’s so sad that a thing like the birth of a child can be converted from a situation of love to a monotonous science experiment. Another friend suggested following the moon phases. Why not?
Book club has been such a great relief from my day-to-day routine with Gabe and the bakery. Book club was always fun with Laura and Joanna, but Lizzie really adds a different element and perspective to our little group. I feel so close to her, I can hardly believe she moved here only a couple of weeks ago!
Speaking of Lizzie, I think that’s her at the door. She’s coming over to get an auxiliary baking lesson. She wants to learn to make an Italian dish to make for Mike as a surprise. How cute! Okay, well see ya later…6 Comments on Pastry Time

Amy- I loved the pear tart recipe! I made it yesterday, it was delicious! I had to keep watching the behind the scenes with the recipe over and over but it was really easy and nice to watch you guys make it while I gave it a try. Thanks!

Bread and Meatballs
I tried out my new recipe for cheddar cheese bread today and it was a big hit! I saved the leftovers for the girls. I'm sure they'll love it.
I think I'm going to add it to the regular menu. Any ideas for what I should call it? I think I'd want to play on the "cheese" factor idea. I don't know, I bet you guys could come up with something good.
Still nothing on the baby front. Gabe has mentioned giving it up, but we're not ready to stop trying yet. It'll happen. I know it.
I'm so excited for the show premiere! That water was incredibly cold, but I felt like I could swim anywhere I wanted. I know, I know, we were supposed to be surfing, but I spent most of my time under water. Hey, maybe I'll try scuba diving. That's probably more my speed. I wonder if I could find a book that would lead to that adventure?
Nah, I like not knowing what'll be next. I bet we all have something in mind for the next time we meet, but we'll probably come up with even better ideas once we're together. Me and the 'book club' ladies...we make a good team.
Oops. Gotta go finish dinner. I'm a bad wife - just made spaghetti and meatballs. But hey, I made the sauce myself. That counts for something, right?20 Comments on Bread and Meatballs

I would be terrified of sharks in the ocean!
My sister told me that she has a little bit different recipe that she considers "health food." I mean, it probably tastes a lot different, but I still think it delicious.
Oh man, chedder cheese bread sounds delicious. My wife only cooks 'healthy food' and I don't think she would include this :( Send me some, Amy!!
now I am hungry for some cheese! Cheese anything!
Amy and her Saturn
Oh, I love this car! I feel free when I'm inside it, but I also get the security of a car with a 5-Star Crash Safety Rating. I'm probably not the best driver ever, so it's nice not to have to focus on the whole safety thing. Not that I forget about it completely, though. And the AURA will be perfect for when that bun finally lands in the oven.

Hey Amy. Thanks so much for the plug for my Rock Recipes Blog. I have posted several photographs of my gingerbread houses from years past as well as a couple of photo slideshows demonstrating how they were constructed. Due to great demand I have also posted some detailed instructions on how to make your own lighted gingerbread house. Find it all at http://www.rockrecipes.blogspot.com
All the best, Barry.
